Lutheran Church of Elmont

More About Us

Who are the Lutherans?

Lutherans come from a reform movement in the Western Church. The Western Church ended up splitting over the attempt at reform. Lutherans pushed for the primacy of Scripture over other sources of authority in the Church. They kept the form of the Mass and maintain a dual focus on the preached word and Holy Communion in their worship services.

Who is LCMC?

Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ is an association of Lutheran congregations across the country. They trust the lay people and pastors in their congregations to work out their ministries without much interference or supervision from above.

Who is Lutheran Church of Elmont?

Started in 1954 as Advent Lutheran Church, the congregation  was a natural home to ethnic Germans leaving Brooklyn and Manhattan. We are now multi-ethnic but still steeped in the Lutheran Tradition.
